Eagles Fall Just Short in GSAC Semifinals

Embry-Riddle played in the postseason for the second time in program history and ERAU put up a fight against #8 ranked The Master's University, but the Eagles fell just short losing 87-85.

Game Highlights:

  • First Half: The Eagles started strong, with Noah Gifft scoring the first points of the game. Embry-Riddle maintained a lead for much of the first half, thanks to key contributions from Peter Dress and Jake Klingler. Dress hit two three-pointers, and Klingler added nine points in the first half. The Eagles led by as much as six points but went into halftime trailing 41-38.
  • Second Half Surge: Embry-Riddle came out firing in the second half, with Gifft and Dress leading the charge. Dress was particularly impressive, hitting four three-pointers and scoring 15 points in the second half. The Eagles managed to tie the game multiple times and even took the lead on several occasions.
  • Key Moments: With just over three minutes left, Jacey Canalin hit a crucial three-pointer to give the Eagles an 80-75 lead. However, The Master's responded with a series of free throws and a three-pointer to tie the game at 81-81. In the final minute, Dress made a layup to tie the game at 85-85, but The Master's Kendall Moore hit a jumper with three seconds left to seal the victory.
  • Defensive Efforts: The Eagles' defense was strong throughout the game, with Demari Hackett and David Teibo making key blocks. Isaiah Wong and Klingler also contributed with steals, helping to keep the game close.

Despite the loss, the Eagles showed tremendous heart and determination. They played with intensity and skill, pushing one of the top teams in the conference to the brink. The future looks bright for Embry-Riddle basketball, and the team can hold their heads high after a hard-fought game.
