Game Recap: Softball |

ERAU Wins Game One, Falls in Game 2

Embry-Riddle won in five innings in the first game of a double header against Arizona Christian 9-0 before losing the second game 12-4 at ACU Softball Field on Friday evening.

Game 1

Embry-Riddle set the tone early, scoring two runs in the first inning. Leah Salas doubled to right center and later scored on a single by Jade Bayless. Kealey Myhre followed with a double to right center, driving in Bayless.

The Eagles continued their offensive onslaught in the second inning. Lily Anderson reached on a fielder's choice, and Salas hit a two-run homer to center field, extending the lead to 4-0.

Embry-Riddle's bats remained hot in the fourth inning, adding five more runs. Anderson doubled to left center, and Autumn Sulusi followed with a double to the same spot, driving in Anderson.  Myhre walked with the bases loaded, scoring Salas. Katie. Jamieson grounded out to the pitcher, allowing Sulusi to score. Arianna Garcia singled to center field, driving in Bayless, and Camille Graham reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Myhre.

Pitcher Vanessa Brink delivered a stellar performance, pitching a complete game shutout. Brink allowed only one hit and struck out two batters over five innings, keeping Arizona Christian's offense at bay.

Embry-Riddle's defense was equally impressive, committing no errors and making key plays to support Brink's efforts on the mound.

Game 2

ACU scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning to jump on top 2-0 right away.

Embry-Riddle's offense came alive in the third inning, scoring four runs. Anderson walked, followed by another walk to Salas. Sulusi singled to center field, loading the bases. Bayless then doubled down the left field line, driving in two runs. Jamieson grounded out to second base, allowing Sulusi to score. Garcia singled and advanced to second on a fielding error, driving in Bayless.

Neither team scored again until the Firestorm had a ten run fifth inning, capitalizing on errors and timely hits as ACU went on to win 12-4 in the 5th inning.

ERAU and ACU will play again on Saturday at 11am and 1pm to finish the four game series.
