Embry-Riddle fell in the first game of the doubleheader to Park-Gilbert 4-10 but the Eagles came back strong in game two to win 10-3 at Arizona Athletic Grounds on Tuesday afternoon.
Game 1
Embry-Riddle struggled to find their rhythm early on, going scoreless for the first six innings. Park-Gilbert took advantage of Embry-Riddle's slow start, scoring six runs in the first inning alone, setting the tone for the rest of the game.
Embry-Riddle's offense came alive in the seventh inning, scoring three runs. Kaden Menard was a standout, driving in two runs with a single to center field. James Warren contributed with a sacrifice fly, bringing home Konner Nelson. The team added another run in the ninth inning, but it wasn't enough to overcome Park-Gilbert's lead.
Game 2
Early Lead Sets the Tone
The Eagles wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, with Warren leading off the game with a single to left field. Owen Cain followed with an RBI single to center, driving in Warren for the first run. B. Moore's groundout to shortstop brought in another run, giving Embry-Riddle a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
Cain's Power Display
Cain had a standout performance, going 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple, and three RBIs. His solo shot in the sixth inning extended the Eagles' lead to 9-3, and his triple in the fifth inning set the stage for another run.
Perez-Ortega's Clutch Hitting
Fernando Perez-Ortega also made significant contributions, hitting a two-run homer in the fifth inning to break the game open. He finished the day 1-for-4 with three RBIs, including a crucial two-out RBI single in the sixth inning.
Schumann's Strong Outing
On the mound, Eric Schumann delivered a solid performance, pitching seven innings and allowing just three runs on five hits. Schumann struck out ten batters and walked five, keeping the Buccaneers' offense in check throughout the game.
ERAU will play Park again tomorrow with the first game beginning at 11am at Arizona Athletic Grounds.
