Gavin Botts came to Embry-Riddle to study mechanical engineering as well as be a part of the start of the ERAU Baseball team. Botts played three years as an Eagle and as a senior hit .424 with 18 RBIs and 30 runs scored. He was named to the CSC Academic All-District team and a NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athlete. What did you mechanical engineering and why did you come to Embry-Riddle to study it?
I studied Mechanical Engineering at ERAU because it gave me the opportunity to get a great degree and play baseball in a new program.
What are you doing or where do you currently work?
I'm currently working as a subsystems engineer at Edwards Air Force Base, supporting flight test in the air and on the ground.
What have you done since graduation?
I've done lots of traveling for fun and for work since graduation, and I've officially opened the next chapter of my life.
How did ERAU prepare you for this career?
My time at ERAU prepared me for my career by challenging me to develop time management, leadership, and critical thinking skills.
What is your favorite memory from your time as a student-athlete at ERAU?
Winning the CalPac championship and senior weekend during the 2024 season. Also, all the bus rides with the guys!
Do you have any advice for current or future Eagles?
Be a leader when nobody is looking, and play every day with your hair on fire!
