Nicole Evenson came to Embry-Riddle to study Mechanical Engineering and play on the Women's Basketball team. She is going to be a senior next year and played in every game this past season for the Eagles. She shot 32.4% from three point range and averaged 4.3 points per game in her junior season. Evenson said she chose Mechanical Engineering because it covers a broad range of topics and really allows her to explore what part of engineering she enjoys best. This summer she is interning at Textron Aviation in Wichita, Kansas. Read more about her experiences so far below.
- What are you studying at ERAU?
I'm studying Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Robotics.
- Why did you choose this Mechanical Engineering?
I chose this major because it covers a broad range of topics, giving me the flexibility to explore different paths and discover what truly interests me within engineering.
- Why did you choose Embry-Riddle?
I chose Embry-Riddle for its strong academic opportunities and the chance to play collegiate basketball.
- Where are you interning?
I'm interning at Textron Aviation in Wichita, Kansas.
- How did you find this internship?
I found the internship through my own research and by using LinkedIn.
- What are you doing in your internship?
I'm working on electrical engineering and wire harness design for the CJ4 and Longitude aircraft.
- What's your favorite part of the internship so far?
My favorite part is seeing my work directly implemented in the factory. I enjoy collaborating with engineers and making sure everything functions properly on the actual aircraft.
- What do you hope to gain from it?
I hope to gain hands-on experience with real-world aircraft systems, improve my technical knowledge, and build connections that will help me as I move forward in my engineering career.
