Embry-Riddle started the day with a 3-0 sweep over the Simpson University Redhawks and finished with another 3-0 win over Haskell Indian Nations University to sweep their first home weekend of the season in the Eagle Gym.
Game 1
The Eagles came out strong in the first set, hitting an impressive .405 as a team and outpacing Simpson's attack. Despite a tighter second set, Embry-Riddle held their composure and closed out each frame with clutch plays, ultimately finishing the match with a .240 hitting percentage compared to Simpson's .135.
Senior outside hitter Emma Barber led the charge with 12 kills on 29 attempts, hitting .310 and adding 7 digs to her stat line. She was supported by Hannah Clear, who contributed 8 kills and 5 blocks, and Brooke Eglinton, who added 7 kills and hit .375. Setter Alice Tuci orchestrated the offense with 35 assists and chipped in 6 digs and 5.5 points.
Defensively, Embry-Riddle held firm with 38 digs and 8 total blocks, stifling Simpson's attack and forcing 20 errors.
Game 2
Embry-Riddle (AZ) volleyball capped off a successful day with a commanding sweep over Haskell Indian Nations University, winning 25-22, 25-20, 25-13 to improve to 6-5 on the season. The Eagles controlled the tempo from start to finish, showcasing a balanced attack and strong defensive effort.
Senior outside hitter Emma Barber led the way with a match-high 17 kills on 29 attempts, hitting an impressive .448 and contributing 18 total points. Hannah Clear added 10 kills and hit .444, while Brooke Eglinton chipped in 5 kills and 6 points.
Setter Alice Tuci was instrumental in the Eagles' offensive rhythm, dishing out 34 assists and adding 10 digs. Embry-Riddle hit .248 as a team, including a scorching .375 in the opening set, and held Haskell to just a .059 hitting percentage.
Defensively, the Eagles were anchored by Ronni Lyons and Haeden Baker, who combined for 11 digs and 7 points. The team totaled 51 digs and 5 blocks, effectively neutralizing Haskell's attack.
Embry-Riddle will begin GSAC play next week as the Eagles head down the hill to OUAZ on Saturday for a 12pm first serve.
