In a dramatic non-conference clash at Centennial Stadium, Embry-Riddle and John Brown University played to a 2–2 draw on Thursday afternoon, with both teams showcasing resilience and offensive firepower.
John Brown struck first just under two minutes into the match when forward Katherine Keys found the back of the net, notching her fourth goal of the season. The Golden Eagles looked poised to control the tempo early, but the momentum shifted dramatically in the 18th minute when goalkeeper Marely Fonseca was issued a red card for a handball outside the box, forcing JBU to make an early substitution in goal.
Embry-Riddle capitalized immediately on the man advantage. Forward Jamie Black netted the equalizer moments later, and then added a second goal in the 31st minute, giving the Eagles a 2-1 lead heading into halftime. Black's brace brought her season tally to three goals.
Both teams had limited chances in the closing moments, as John Brown was able to get the equalizer in the 88th minute and the match ended in a hard-fought draw. Embry-Riddle finished with seven shots, three on goal, while John Brown recorded eight shots, also with three on target. Each goalkeeper made one save.
