Game Recap: Baseball |

ERAU Wins Two More at Coach Calderone Invite

Embry-Riddle moved to 4-0 on the young season with an 11-2 win over Justice University in the first game of the day at ACU Baseball Field followed by a come from behind 11-4 win over Nelson in the second game on Saturday.

Game 1
ERAU wasted no time generating offense, pushing across two runs in the bottom of the first. After a leadoff walk and stolen base from Konner Nelson, Miles Murphy drew a free pass before TyCramer lifted a sacrifice fly to open the scoring. Moments later, Aleksandar Krupa ripped an RBI double to right, extending the early lead to 2–0.

The Eagles' bats erupted in the second inning.

  • Caden Truman singled to start the frame.
  • Kaden Menard followed with a single.
  • Murphy then delivered the biggest swing of the day: a three-run inside the park home run to center, pushing the lead to 5–0.
  • After a hit-by-pitch, Cramer struck again—this time with an RBI triple to center.

By the end of the inning, ERAU led 6–0 and had full control.

ERAU finished with 13 hits, highlighted by multi-hit games from Murphy, Cramer, Truman, Menard, and Nelson.
Top offensive standouts included:

  • Murphy: 2-for-3, HR, 4 RBI, 3 R, SB
  • Cramer: 2-for-3, 3 RBI, 3B, SF
  • Nelson: 1-for-4, 2 RBI, SB
  • Menard: 2-for-5, 2 R
  • Truman: 2-for-3, 3 R, RBI

Four Eagle pitchers combined to allow just two runs on eight hits while striking out 13.

Game 2
The Eagles trailed 2–0 after Nelson's two-run double in the third, but the Eagles answered with a run in the fourth and then erupted for five in the fifth to take control. A throwing error put Chris Black aboard, Konner Nelson followed with a single, and Miles Murphy punched an RBI knock to draw the Eagles even. James Warren then reached on an error to push the go-ahead run across, Javier Izaguirre Jr. singled in another, Ty Cramer ripped an RBI double, and Jake Lokos added a sacrifice fly to cap the inning and make it 6–2.

ERAU kept the pressure on in the sixth: Black walked and stole second, Nelson singled and later scored on a passed ball, Warren lined an RBI single, and Cramer's sacrifice fly stretched the margin to 9–2. The Eagles tacked on two more in the seventh as Fernando Perez-Ortega swiped second, took third on a passed ball, and scored on a wild pitch before Nelson belted a solo homer to left for the final 11–4 cushion.

After Carson Stoller battled through three innings (2 ER), Lukas Barrett took over in the fourth and was excellent, firing 2.0 scoreless with one strikeout to collect the win. Spencer Lanz covered 2.1 innings with one run allowed, Braden Wilson got the final out of the eighth, and Noah Tschopp closed the ninth to finish a combined bullpen line of 6.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R (1 ER), 5 K.

Embry-Riddle will return to Phoenix next weekend to play in the East West Challenge.
