Embry-Riddle put together one of its most balanced offensive efforts of the season, but a late fourth-quarter push by host OUAZ proved to be the difference as the Eagles dropped a hard-fought 70–63 contest Saturday afternoon at Faith Arena.
After trailing 19–13 following the first quarter, the Eagles responded with energy on both ends. A 17-13 second quarter—sparked by seven points from
Morgan Evenson—trimmed the deficit to just two heading into halftime. Evenson went a perfect 3-for-3 from the floor in the period, including an and-one finish that kickstarted the offensive rhythm.
Embry-Riddle kept the momentum rolling after the break. A
21-19 third quarter, highlighted by balanced scoring from Evenson,
Kate McBride,
Makenzie Alapai, and
Bella Barrett, pushed the Eagles into a tie at 51–51 entering the fourth. Barrett's buzzer-beating jumper off an assist from Evenson capped the quarter and sent the Eagles into the final frame level.
Embry-Riddle's depth made a significant impact, as the Eagles' bench poured in 27 points compared to OUAZ's 14. Barrett provided a strong spark with 14 points, while
Riley Morris-Rexford (7 points) and
Morgan Mann (4 points) added valuable contributions across momentum-swinging stretches. The Eagles' reserves helped fuel a 13–4 run that turned a second-quarter deficit into a halftime battle.
Despite holding OUAZ to just 45 percent shooting and forcing 19 turnovers, Embry-Riddle couldn't overcome a tough final quarter. The Spirit outscored the Eagles 19–12 in the fourth and closed the game on an 11–4 run. OUAZ's Jana Solee proved critical late, finishing with a game-high 27 points and going 11-for-12 at the free-throw line, including several clutch makes in the final minute.
ERAU will continue GSAC play at Park next week with tip-off scheduled for 5:30pm on January, 29th.
