Embry-Riddle lost twice on Saturday, 12-8 and 18-4 to Benedictine Mesa at Eagle Baseball Field.
Game 1
Embry-Riddle baseball put together one of its strongest offensive performances of the season, collecting 14 hits and building an early four-run lead, but a six-run fifth inning by Benedictine Mesa swung the momentum as the Eagles fell 12–8.
ERAU came out firing, scoring once in the first and adding three more in the second to take a 4–0 advantage. Miles Murphy, Javier Izaguirre Jr., Connor Rosinski, and Konner Nelson all delivered early hits, with Nelson and Murphy driving in runs and Izaguirre adding a triple as the Eagles controlled the opening frames.
Benedictine Mesa chipped away with single runs in the third and fourth before erupting for six in the fifth. Four Eagle errors in the inning extended opportunities for the Redhawks, who used timely extra-base hits and aggressive baserunning to seize a 10–4 lead.
Embry-Riddle refused to go quietly. The Eagles answered with a three-run sixth, highlighted by consecutive singles from Jake Lokos, James Warren, and Rosinski, followed by another run scoring on an infield miscue. ERAU added its final run in the seventh when Warren doubled and Rosinski tripled him home, trimming the deficit to 12–8.
Despite the late push, Benedictine Mesa's bullpen held the Eagles scoreless over the final two innings.
Game 2
ERAU struck first, taking a 1–0 lead in the opening inning after capitalizing on an error and a productive groundout. The Eagles continued to put runners on base throughout the day, finishing with 11 hits, including four extra-base knocks.
Benedictine Mesa responded with a six-run second inning and an eight-run third, using a combination of timely hitting, free passes, and extra-base power to build a commanding lead. The Redhawks totaled 10 hits but made them count, driving in 14 runs and taking advantage of nine hit-by-pitches issued by ERAU pitching.
Despite the deficit, the Eagles continued to compete. Connor Rosinski delivered a three-hit performance, including a double, while Kaden Menard added two hits and a double of his own. In the fourth inning, Konner Nelson provided the highlight of the day with a two-run homer to center, cutting into the Redhawks' lead and energizing the ERAU dugout.
ERAU added its final run in the seventh when Tyler Trimble doubled and Carter Graham drove him in with a single to right. Graham finished with two hits and an RBI, while Nelson, Rosinski, Menard, and Javier Izaguirre Jr. all contributed extra-base hits.
Embry-Riddle will head to Hope International for a 6pm first pitch on Thursday evening as GSAC play continues. Â
