LOMPOC, Calif. -- Embry-Riddle completed another title run Wednesday, winning the GSAC women's golf championship for the second straight year with a three-round total of 958 at La Purisima Golf Course. The Eagles closed with a 323 in the final round and finished at 22-over-par 94 for the tournament, 26 strokes clear of runner-up OUAZ.
In just its second year in the conference, Embry-Riddle has now claimed both GSAC championships available to it. The Eagles led from the opening round, starting with a 314 on Monday, following with a 321 on Tuesday and then holding their advantage through Wednesday's closing round.
Embry-Riddle's depth again defined the team race. Lila Becker paced the Eagles with a three-round 239 to finish fourth individually, and Charlotte Giffin followed at 240 to take fifth. Olivia Zamarripa tied for sixth, Bellamaria Mantini in 8th, and Emma Marshall finished 11th, giving Embry-Riddle all five players inside the top 11 and reinforcing the consistency that kept the Eagles in front from start to finish. Â
The GSAC also named the golf All-Conference teams at the awards ceremony. Freshman Emma Marshall was named the GSAC Freshman of the Year and to the All-Conference team. Joining Marshall on the All-Conference team was Mantini and Giffin for the Eagles. Â
With the tournament win, Embry-Riddle earns an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships which will take place May 19th-22nd at Eagle Crest Golf Club in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Â
