Embry-Riddle came out swinging in GSAC Tournament Semifinals Wednesday afternoon, plating three runs in the first inning and never looking back en route to a 5–1 victory over Hope International at Great Park Stadium.
Fast Start Sets the Tone
The Eagles wasted no time applying pressure. The very first batter of the game, Katie Jamieson, reached after being hit by a pitch — the spark that ignited a three-run opening frame. Back-to-back singles from Ryan Da Costa and Leah Salas loaded the bases with no outs.
Moments later, Jade Bayless lifted a sacrifice fly to bring home the game's first run. The Eagles kept rolling:
By the time the dust settled, ERAU led 3–0 and had all the momentum.
Streeter Dominates in the Circle
From there, Claire Streeter took over. The senior right-hander was in full command, scattering just five hits over 7.0 innings while striking out four. Importantly, the lone run she allowed was unearned, keeping her ERA spotless for the day.
Streeter faced only 29 batters, induced 13 flyouts, and threw 123 pitches in a performance that showcased poise and control from start to finish.
Bayless Powers Late Insurance Surge
After the early burst, the Eagles' offense quieted until the seventh — but when they struck again, they struck big.
With ERAU holding a narrow 3–1 lead, Leah Salas singled and gave way to pinch-runner Briseis Ramirez. That set the stage for Jade Bayless, who delivered the biggest swing of the afternoon: a triple to right field that scored Ramirez and pushed the lead to 4–1.
Two batters later, pinch-hitter Joy Sanchez punched a single into left-center to bring Bayless home, extending the advantage to 5–1 and sealing the win.
Bayless finished with two hits, two RBI, a double, and a triple, driving the offense at key moments.
Embry-Riddle will play in the GSAC Championship game on Thursday with the first pitch scheduled for 12pm.
