Embry-Riddle opened its road trip in commanding fashion on Friday, rolling to an 8–1 win in Game 1 before securing the sweep with a 3–1 victory in Game 2 over Westcliff at OC Great Park.
Game 1
The Eagles wasted no time seizing control, stacking six runs across the 2nd and 3rd innings to put the opener out of reach early.
ERAU capitalized on free bases and sharp contact in the 2nd. After a walk and hit-by-pitch, Annalie Castanon punched a single through the left side to score the game's first run. Moments later, Arianna Garcia lifted a sacrifice fly to left, bringing home Jade Bayless for a 2–0 lead.
The third inning delivered the knockout blow. Ryan Da Costa and Leah Salas opened with back-to-back singles, setting the table for Kealey Myhre's triple down the right-field line, scoring both runners. Myhre later scored on a passed ball, and doubles from Joy Sanchez and Garcia pushed the lead to 6–0.
ERAU added two more in the 6th, highlighted by Salas' RBI double to left center and another RBI single from Castanon.
Claire Streeter fired a complete-game four-hitter with 11 strikeouts.
Game 2
Game 2 featured a tighter, more tactical battle, but the Eagles again delivered the big swings when it mattered.
Scoreless through three, ERAU broke through in the 4th when Kealey Myhre doubled to left and the Eagles loaded the bases. Tori Tlilayatzi came through with a clutch RBI single to left, scoring Myhre for a 1–0 lead. Anise Romo then grounded out to drive in another run, extending the advantage to 2–0.
In the 5th, ERAU capitalized again when Jade Bayless singled to right to score Ryan Da Costa, who had reached on a fielder's choice.
Sophomore Presley Daniel delivered one of her sharpest outings of the season, working 6.1 innings with just one run allowed and scattering six hits. She induced 10 groundouts and kept Westcliff off balance throughout.
With the tying run no longer a threat, Streeter returned for the final two outs, striking out both batters she faced to earn the save.
The two teams will play the final two of the series on Saturday at Fullerton College with first pitch scheduled for 12pm.
