GLENDALE, Ariz. — Embry-Riddle delivered an offensive showcase Saturday night, defeating Arizona Christian 7-1 at ACU Soccer Field.
The Eagles improved to 6-0-1 overall and 4-0-0 in conference play behind a hat trick from junior Jamie Brandon and two goals from Tessa Updegraff.
Brandon opened the scoring in the fourth minute, but Arizona Christian quickly responded to level the match at 1-1. Embry-Riddle regained the lead just 17 seconds later when Updegraff finished a feed from Brandon.
Brandon struck again in the 40th minute, assisted by Alawna Goodin, to give the Eagles a 3-1 advantage at halftime.
Embry-Riddle continued to control the match after the break. Ella Carnahan scored in the 48th minute off a Samantha Wright assist, and Updegraff added her second goal less than four minutes later with Kaitlyn Roskopf providing the assist.
Molly Newlin extended the lead to 6-1 in the 59th minute after connecting with Leah Barone. Brandon completed her hat trick just 47 seconds later, scoring her 10th goal of the season on an assist from Wright.
The Eagles outshot Arizona Christian 39-5 and held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks. Goalkeeper Maile Kahele made two saves in the victory.
Updegraff finished with 10 shots, while Brandon recorded nine shots and six shots on goal. Wright contributed two assists, and Carnahan and Newlin each scored once.
ERAU will head to Southern California next week for a Thursday game against Hope International.
