Nicole Hennessey was named the Head Coach of the Embry-Riddle Softball program in August 2022. She came over from Furman where she spent the 2021 season as an assistant coach. Hennessey brings decades of playing and coaching experience in softball to Prescott.
As a part of the Furman softball coaching staff, Hennessey developed outfielders and hitters, while also drawing up practice plans and playing a crucial role in the recruiting process. The 2022 season proved successful for Furman, as Hennessey was a part of a team that finished in the top four of the SOCON conference, defying preseason predictions. Four players earned all-SOCON honors for the 2022 season performance.
Prior to Furman, Hennessey was the assistant coach at Trinity University, a NCAA Division III program. Hennessey worked with the outfielders and catchers, while also developing hitters and leading agility workouts. In 2021, the program had its best season in a long time, having seven players earn all-conference, and the team grabbing its first postseason win since 2017.
Hennessey spent two seasons as an assistant coach at then-NCAA Division II UC San Diego, developing outfielders and hitters during her first job as a college coach. During the 2019 season, she was a part of the staff that won West Region Coaching Staff of the Year, as the team won a share of the CCAA Conference Championship. That 2019 season also saw UC San Diego make its first NCAA Division II tournament appearance since 2011.
Hennessey was also the head coach of the Firecrackers Softball travel team, developing players of all ages and skill sets in 2016-2017. Hennessey resides in Prescott Valley.
