Spencer Meyer’s enters his first season as the Assistant Volleyball Coach at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona. Coming from San Diego, California, Meyer brings a wealth of experience in both counseling psychology and volleyball coaching to the Eagles' program.
Meyer's journey in coaching began at Dysart High School, where he served as the Head Beach Volleyball Coach, imparting fundamental technical and strategic skills to high school athletes. His commitment to creating a positive and safe learning environment led to significant player development and team cohesion.
Transitioning to Youngker High School, Meyer assumed roles as Varsity Assistant and Head JV Volleyball Coach, where he meticulously designed training programs emphasizing skill development, strategy, and fitness. His efforts in fostering a positive team culture and promoting sportsmanship were evident through successful team bonding activities and mental fitness initiatives.
As a Camp Coach at the Guy Enriques Volleyball Camp, Meyer coached various high school Varsity teams across the Pacific Northwest, collaborating with Division I athletes on advanced training methodologies. He conducted Mental Fitness talks for hundreds of athletes, enhancing their emotional regulation and focus during competitive play.
Meyer's coaching prowess extended to the Hanai Volleyball Club, where he served as Head Volleyball Coach, planning practices to elevate player performance and game strategy. His hands-on approach in player development and recruitment efforts contributed significantly to the club's success.
Meyer earned his Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from National University in La Jolla, California, specializing in Marriage Family Therapy and integrating feminist, solution-focused, and dialectical behavior therapies into his coaching philosophy. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Cal State San Marcos and is an active member of the Association of Applied Sports Psychology. Alongside his coaching endeavors, Meyer remains committed to establishing trust and rapport with players, staff, and families, ensuring a supportive and enriching experience both on and off the volleyball court.
