FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) women's distance track ran at the Northern Arizona University Tune Up on Friday. Three different Eagles finished in the Top-3 in two different events on the day.
Carissa Evans (SO/Prescott, AZ) ran to third in the mile race. She posted two 1:01 splits and secured her place with her second of the two. She was the only Eagle to run in the event.
ERAU had a few more participants in the 3000 meter race. Emily Simon (FR/Peoria, Ariz.) showed off her speed by finishing first in the event (11:28.26). She was nearly 13 seconds faster than the second place finisher. Her second half of the race is what separated her from the others, she caught the leader before the third to last split and cruised from there. Her sister Lizzie Simon (FR/Peoria, Ariz.) finished third at 11:49.08 and Evans finished two seconds behind her in fourth.
The Eagles run at the Occidental Distance Carnival on March 14 in Eagle Rock, California.
