Anderson Qualifies for Nationals at Westmont Collegiate Classic

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Coming off her third straight Cal Pac Individual Championship in cross country, Ariana Anderson (JR/Torrance, Calif.) of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) women's track qualified for her second career NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship appearance after running in the 10,000m race at the Westmont Collegiate Classic.

Anderson blazed by the other competitors in the field finishing six minutes ahead of the second place finisher. Her first appearance at the national championships came in 2019 when she ran the 5,000m. Anderson will have a lot of running to do in the coming months as she prepares for two separate championships.

Meah Wilson (JR/Kingman HS) ran in the 5,000m and took second. She ran a PR of 18:28.42, which is a staggering minute faster than her previous best! She finished ahead of a bevy of NCAA competitors. Josephine Ruggieri (FR/Las Vegas, Nev.) came in sixth in the race, running it in 18:46.35. Bones Parker (SO/San Diego, Calif.) finished in the top-10 as well with her time of 19:04.68.

The Eagles are scheduled to run at the Cal Pac Championships on April 30th but will most likely run another race prior to that date.
