Eagles Compete Well at Azusa Last Chance Meet

AZUSA, CALIF. – After winning the inaugural Cal Pac Distance Track championships, Embry-Riddle got back to competing for the final time before the NAIA National Championships. Many Eagles set personal and program records, and impressive final tune-up at the Azusa Pacific Last Chance Meet.

Ariana Anderson continued her excellent season in the steeplechase, posting her best time ever and moving up among the NAIA's best times. Anderson finished at 10:43.56, and has lined herself up for an excellent shot at the national championship.

Lizzie Simon competed in the women's 5000 and Luke Stratton ran the men's 10000, both of those events happening on Friday. Simon was a top three NAIA runner in the 5000 with a time of 33:28.25, Fakrogha and Stratton was the best NAIA runner in the 10000 at 33:28.25.

Doutimi Fakrogha participate in a pair of events – the men's 800 and the men's 1500. Fakrogha won his heat with a time of 1:59.88 in the 800, and in the 1500, he set his personal record by coming across the finish at 4:05.60. Josey Gregory also ran in the women's 1500, posting a time of 4:46.48, her personal best and just three seconds short of qualifying for nationals in the event.

The Eagles will now head to the NAIA Track National Championships, being held from May 25-27 in Gulf Shores, Ala.
