CLAREMONT, Calif. – Taking part in the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational, the Embry-Riddle turned in some strong performances at the event, including several personal bests. Junior Josey Gregory (Pensacola, Fla.) led the way for the Eagles, capturing first place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Gregory was stellar in taking the title, battling her teammate, freshman Savannah Ganter (Yucaipa, Calif.), all the way before edging her out in the end. Gregory crossed the line in a personal best of 11:36.15, just a little more than six seconds off the NAIA B standard. Ganter was close behind, also setting a PR with a 11:41.60. Senior Alice McKean (Tucson, Ariz.) also set a new personal best, finishing in 14:38.57.
Junior Josephine Banks (Las Vegas, Nev.) recorded a PR in the 1,500 meters, taking sixth place in 4:42.08, just two seconds away from a national qualifying time. Sophomore Kamryn Hoehne (Santa Fe, N.M.) also set a PT in the event with a 5:00.13.
Freshman Tiffany Terry (Calimesa, Calif.) turned in a top-10 finish in the 5,000 meters, taking sixth in 18:54.12. At 800 meters the Eagles also had some PRs set, with sophomore Skylar Cooney (Cumberland, Maine) turning in a 2:25.16, less than eight seconds off a national qualifying mark, and Banks a 2:28.09.
