Nitai Bental (Shoham, Israel) scored a goal in the 19th minute and the Embry-Riddle defense stood strong as the Eagles picked up an important 1-0 win over Hope International in Prescott on Saturday evening.
Bental took a pass from
Francesco Busini (Velletri, Rome, Italy) and slotted it into the lower corner to give ERAU the early lead. Embry-Riddle created a few more chances in the opening half but none found the back of the net as the Eagles took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
The tempo picked up in the second half and the game got quite physical as eight yellow cards were shown in the final 45 minutes, but the Eagle back line and
Elias Ammon (Bremen, Germany) didn't allow anything close to the goal. Ammon made five saves in goal for ERAU.
Embry-Riddle will be back on Varisty Field on Thursday evening for a matchup with Benedictine Mesa. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30pm.
