Embry-Riddle women's soccer player Jackie Peterson (Huntington Beach, Calif.) received the Chancellor's Award for the 2024 Fall Graduating Class. The Chancellor's Award honors an outstanding graduating senior scholar and leader who has an exceptional record of academic accomplishment and a high level of campus and community involvement, while maintaining a minimum 3.8 Cumulative GPA. This is the highest award bestowed to one of our graduates.
As a graduating senior at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), Peterson is majoring in Aeronautics with minors in Aviation Business Administration, Aeronautical Studies, and Spanish. Jackie aspired to become the first pilot in her family in hopes to test her dad's words that "not even the sky was the limit" for her. During her past three and a half years at ERAU, Jackie has set herself apart through her academic, athletic, and leadership endeavors.
As a member of the ERAU Women's Soccer Team, Jackie has played an integral role on the NAIA top 20 ranked team as an outside forward. She has also served as the secretary, promotions officer, and currently the vice president of ERAU's largest club on campus: Airline Pilots Association Aviation Collegiate Education Club (ALPA ACE). Through this club, she has facilitated over 25 networking and educational opportunities for aspiring airline pilots and airline recruiters. She is also a leadership member of the Chi Alpha Christian Club, a member of both Athletes in Aviation and Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is a Campus Academic Mentor for the College of Aviation.
Jackie was awarded the Presidential, Women of Excellence, and Women's Soccer Athletic scholarships, and she is a recipient of several team and individual awards through the Women's Soccer Team. With a 3.96 GPA, Jackie is a member of the ERAU Dean's List and Honor Roll. She also interned for Missionary Aviation Fellowship (MAF) in Ecuador and worked with a team of Ecuadorian bush pilots, mechanics, and pastors to deliver goods and personnel into remote areas of the Ecuadorian jungle. After completing her necessary flight hours, Jackie hopes to work as a Christian missionary bush pilot in Latin America.
