In a gripping encounter at the Cactus Classic, the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Eagles edged out the Providence (MT) Argos with a dramatic 86-85 victory on Sunday evening, at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. The Eagles, propelled by stellar performances from
Peter Dress (Kennewick, Wash.) and decisive plays by
Isaiah Wong (Dublin, Calif.), improved their season tally to 4-5.
As the game unfolded, the Eagles took an early advantage, leading 47-36 at halftime. Dress shined brilliantly, scoring a game-high 26 points, including crucial three-pointers that kept the Eagles in control. Additional support came from
Jake Klingler (Gilbert, Ariz.), who contributed 12 points punctuated by key three-point baskets, and Wong, whose late-game free throws clinched the victory. Defensive efforts were led by
David Teibo (Phoenix, Ariz.), who grabbed 10 rebounds.
Embry-Riddle will be back on the court Monday at 12pm to face Rocky Mountain at Chandler-Gilbert as the Cactus Classic continues. Â
