Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

ERAU Falls to #2 Northwestern

Embry-Riddle faced off against the Northwestern Raiders from Iowa to finish their time in the Big Sky Classic hosted by Montana Tech.  The Raiders, who are currently ranked #2 in the NAIA beat the Eagles 3-1.

After a slow start in the first set which Northwestern won 25-11, ERAU rebounded in the second.

The teams went back and forth for the first couple of points, but then the Eagles rallied off three points straight to take a 7-4 advantage.  Embry-Riddle led by as many as seven with the score at 14-7.  The run was led by Hannah Clear (Fort Worth, Texas) as she had two kills.  Kelly Hansen (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) and Alexsandra Rodriguez (Phoenix, Ariz.) each added one as well.  Northwestern was able to tie the score at 21-21.  Dalia Haase (Tucson, Ariz.) and Emma Barber (Goodyear, Ariz.) closed out the set for ERAU as the Eagles won 26-24.

Embry-Riddle kept the third set close as the score ended 25-23 in favor of the Raiders.  Barber continued her strong day with five kills in the set.  Lily Figgins (St. Charles, Mo.) had back-to-back service aces to give the Eagles their first lead in the set at 6-5.  After falling behind 10-11, a block by Rodriguez and Haase tied the score back up.  Neither team was able to pull away much from the other with points being traded.  Down by one with the score 15-14, ERAU used a timeout to regroup and then went on a 5-1 run and took a 19-17 lead.  The Raiders then called a timeout and went on a run of their own as they closed out the set 25-23.

Momentum went Northwestern's way in the fourth set as the Raiders won 25-13 and took the match 3-1.

Embry-Riddle will play again on August 23rd in the Loyola Tournament held in New Orleans.
