ERAU Evens GSAC Record

Embry-Riddle soared to victory against the Arizona Christian Firestorm, winning decisively in straight sets: 25-17, 25-10, and 25-20 at the Firestorm Recreation Center in Glendale on Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles started strong, showcasing their offensive prowess right from the first serve. Led by Katie Rolle (Missoula, Montana) and Kelly Hansen (El Dorado Hills, Calif.), who both delivered powerful attacks, Embry-Riddle quickly established a commanding lead. Their teamwork was evident as they executed precise plays, leaving the Firestorm scrambling to keep up. Despite a valiant effort from Arizona Christian, who managed to rally with a few points, the Eagles closed the set at 25-17, setting the tone for the match.

The second set saw the Eagles elevate their game even further. With a remarkable hitting percentage of .440, they dominated the court. Hannah Clear (Fort Worth, Texas) and Emma Barber (Goodyear, Ariz.) contributed significantly, combining for several key kills that left the Firestorm defense in disarray. Arizona Christian struggled to find their rhythm, and the Eagles capitalized on every opportunity, winning the set decisively at 25-10. The momentum was firmly in Embry-Riddle's favor.

In the third set, Arizona Christian fought back with renewed determination. Emmi Jacobus and Becca Thomson attempted to rally their team, but the Eagles remained relentless. The Firestorm managed to close the gap, showcasing moments of brilliance, but the Eagles' consistent performance proved too much. With strategic serves and solid defense, Embry-Riddle clinched the final set 25-20, sealing their victory and improving their season record to 8-8 and GSAC record to 2-2.

Hansen finished the match with 11 kills and a .556 hitting percentage.  Rolle had 28 assists, 8 kills, and two block assists in the three sets.

Embry-Riddle will be home again on October 4th with first serve scheduled for 6pm in the Eagle Gym.
