Embry-Riddle finished the first day of the NWCA National Duals 2-1. ERAU and Providence were tied 20-20, but the Eagles advanced on the tiebreaker. In the second match ERAU took on #2 ranked Life and lost by one point and in the third dual of the day the Eagles took down Indiana Tech 22-19.

Landon Smith started things for Embry-Riddle with a 7-1 decision at 125lbs for ERAU.
At 133lbs,
Jaren Kimura lost a tight 6-5 match to Kina'u McBrayer.
Adam Stanley lost his match at 141lbs to Tristan Bremer.
Jonah Chew earned a 6-3 decision for the Eagles at 149lbs.
At 157lbs,
Logan Hancey wrestled the #1 ranked wrestler and lost a 4-2 decision.
Keller Rock won by major decision at 165lbs and
Daniil Gorshkov won 11-0 at 174lbs to earn four more team points for Embry-Riddle.
After forfeiting the 184lb weight class,
Trenton Blomquist lost a close 6-5 match at 197lbs.
Kenneth Copley won by fall in 4:41 at 285lbs.

Once again Smith started things for the Eagles with a 6-4 decision at 125lbs.
Kimura wrestled #1 ranked Thaddeus Long at 133lbs, and lost by tech fall 20-3.
At 141lbs,
Christian Lopez took on #4 ranked Pat Gould. Lopez went down early but came back to earn a 16-3 major decision.
Chew earned a takedown, an escape, and riding time for a 5-0 decision at 149lbs for ERAU.
Hancey took on #6 at 157lbs and earned an escape in the second period followed by a takedown. In the third period after his opponent got two points for a reversal, Hancey got an escape. At the end of regulation the match was tied 5-5 and went to sudden victory. Hancey earned a takedown in the overtime period for the 8-5 victory.
At 165lbs it was a top-10 matchup for Rock. He earned a first period take down and held a 3-0 lead going into the second period. No points were scored by either wrestler in the second period. Rock earned another take down in the third period and went on to win 6-1.
Gorshkov wrestled Alexander Couto who he is currently tied #7 in the NAIA with at 174lbs. Gorshkov lost the match 5-1.
After ERAU had to forfeit at 184lbs, Blomquist was up at 197lbs to take on the #1 ranked wrestler at 184lbs Jesse Perez. Blomquist fought but lost by fall in the second period.
At 285lbs, Copley took on Nate Glass. Copley earned three take downs and won the match 9-4.

Smith finished his day 3-0 as he picked up another three team points for the Eagles with an 8-6 decision.
At 133lbs,
Allan Hendricks took on #8 Luke Rioux. Rioux led 4-0 after the second period and went on to win 6-0.
Lopez got taken down in the first period to go down 3-0 at 141lbs but then earned an escape point as the first period ended 3-1. Lopez earned another escape in the second period to make the score 3-2. His opponent got another takedown and went on to win the match 7-2.
At 149lbs, Chew earned a penalty point in the first period and an escape in the second period to lead 2-0. After a takedown in the second period, Chew led 5-0 going into the third. After an escape, Chew got two more takedowns and won his match 11-3 to finish the day 3-0.
After giving up a takedown in the first period, Hancey got one in the second to tie the match at 3-3. His opponent earned another takedown and two near-fall points and led 9-3 before Hancey earned an escape but it wasn't enough as he lost 13-5.
At 165lbs, it was #1 Johnathon Kervin vs. #2
Keller Rock. The first period ended 0-0 with both wrestlers creating a little bit of offense. Kervin got a takedown in the second period to take a 3-0 lead but Rock quickly worked out of it to earn an escape.
Gorshkov earned a second period fall in 3:33 at 174lbs.
After
Wyatt Rewerts lost at 184lbs, Blomquist won by decision at 197lbs by a score of 11-5.
Embry-Riddle was down by three points and Copley won his match by fall at 285lbs to give ERAU the 22-19 win over Indiana Tech.
Embry-Riddle will wrestle on mat 9 at 9am against Doane University.
