Embry-Riddle had two wrestlers,
Yoshiya Funakoshi and
Kenneth Copley win National Championships at the NAIA National Championship event in Wichita, Kansas on Saturday.
Daniil Gorshkov finished in 3rd and
Trenton Blomquist in 5th as the Eagles placed fourth as a team.
Funakoshi earned a first period takedown and held on for the win in the 141lb final.
Copley won by a first period pin with six seconds to go. With the score 0-0, Copley took Koen Mattern down and was able to win by pin with 6 seconds to go.
At 174lbs, Gorshkov won 4-1 over Roman Garcia. Gorshkov used an escape in the first period and a takedown to win his match.
Blomquist won 2-0 in his 5th place match. He earned an escape and a point for riding time.
