3 Eagles Win CCC Titles

Embry-Riddle placed third as a team at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships as Jayden Luttrell, Daniil Gorshkov, and Kenneth Copley all won the individual title in their respective weight classes on Saturday evening.  

125lbs
Landon Smith reached the final but was forced to medically forfeit his championship match.  After receiving a first roung bye, Smith won by major decision and an 8-1 decision to reach the championship. Jaren Kimura also wrestled for ERAU at 125lbs, finishing the event 0-2.  

141lbs
At 141lbs, Yoshiya Funakoshi came in 5th place followed by Adam Stanley who finished in 8th.  Funakoshi won his first match by tech fall before falling into the consolation rounds  He won two more matches in the wrestlebacks before dropping to the 5th place match. He won that match by 11-5 decision.  Stanley lost a close 7-6 match to start the tournament but then won two straight before losing to reach the 7th place match.  He lost a close 8-4 decision in the 7th place match.

149lbs
Christian Lopez reached the 3rd place match.  After falling in his frist match 9-6, Lopez won two by decision before falling in the 3rd place match 4-2.

165lbs
Luttrell was crowned conference champion as he finished 3-0.  After receiving a first round bye, he won his first match by fall in 2:05.  He then used an 8-0 major decision to get to the final which he won 5-2.  Also wrestling at 165lbs for the Eagles was Thomas Stadel.  Stadel lost his first match but then won the next two on his way to a 6th place finish.  

174lbs
Gorshkov won by tech fall in his first match of the day and a 14-2 major decision in the second to reach the championship.  He won his championship match 4-2 and avenged an earlier loss this season.  

184lbs
Tauataina Tuikolongahau lost his first match but then won his second 8-4 before losing again to get eliminated.  Wyatt Rewerts also wrestled for ERAU at 184lbs but lost his first two matches.  

197lbs
Trenton Blomquist finished in 2nd at the 197lb weight class. Blomquist had a bye, recieved a forfeit, and then won a decision by a score of 6-3.  In the championship match he lost by fall.  

285lbs
Copley won the 285lb bracket and was named the tournaments most outstanding wrestler in the process.  After a bye, Copley won by a 10-5 decision and a 9-2 win to reach the championship.  In the final round, he won by sudden victory 4-1.  

Copley, Luttrell and Gorshkov will all head to the NAIA National Championships and the Eagles will wait to see if anyone else qualifies.
