On Thursday evening Embry-Riddle faced off against the Park-Gilbert Buccaneers at the AZ Athletic Grounds in a closely contested GSAC basketball game. The Eagles fell short, closing the game with a final score of 59-67 against the Buccaneers.
The game started off challenging for the Eagles, who found themselves trailing by six points at halftime with a score of 29-35. Embry-Riddle struggled to close the gap in the second half, ultimately conceding the game to Park-Gilbert, who maintained their lead throughout.
Eagles' standout performer,
Zakiirah King, led the scoring for her team with 16 points, followed by
Ella Schott who contributed 10 points, including a block and a steal. Other notable performances included
Abby Dean and
Mehgan Strickler, who not only scored but also contributed significantly on the defensive front with rebounds and steals.
Embry-Riddle will look to bounce back quickly as the Eagles host Benedictine Mesa on Saturday at 2pm in the Activity Center.
