In a high-scoring contest at the Activity Center on Thursday evening, the Eagles of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University faced a tough setback in their final non-conference basketball encounter against the Warriors of Nelson University-Arizona, concluding with a final score of 104-92 in favor of the Warriors.
The game started competitively with Embry-Riddle just trailing by three points at halftime, with the scoreboard reading Nelson University-Arizona 50, Embry-Riddle 47. Top performances from
Noah Gifft and
Peter Dress, who scored 28 and 23 points respectively, highlighted the Eagles' offensive efforts. Throughout the game, other notable contributions came from
Jacey Canalin and
Demari Hackett, with Canalin adding 11 points and Hackett scoring 12 before fouling out.
Despite a strong push in the latter stages of the game, the Eagles couldn't bridge the gap set by an outstanding 42-point game from Nelson's Harley Upton, who was the game's top scorer. The Eagles displayed a commendable team effort and resilience but fell short in their bid to claim victory.
Embry-Riddle will begin GSAC play on Saturday with a 2pm game against Life Pacific University in the Activity Center. Â
