Embry-Riddle delivered a gutsy performance Tuesday evening, rallying to defeat La Sierra University in a five-set battle (20-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 15-11) in the Eagle Gym.
The match was a back-and-forth affair featuring 34 tie scores and 15 lead changes, with both teams trading momentum throughout. After dropping the first set, the Eagles responded with a strong second frame, led by Anela Chew and Emma Barber, who combined for 35 kills on the night.
Chew was a force at the net, tallying 18 kills and contributing 5 digs and 1 block assist. Barber added 17 kills on 64 attempts, along with 14 digs, showcasing her two-way impact.
Hannah Clear also stepped up with 10 kills and 3 solo blocks, while Haeden Baker chipped in 4 kills, 4 total blocks, and a steady defensive presence.
Sydney Sniffen orchestrated the offense with 22 assists, while Alice Tuci added 18 assists and 6 digs. Libero Alexis Creager anchored the back row with a match-high 24 digs, helping the Eagles weather La Sierra's offensive surges.
Embry-Riddle's defense proved crucial in the final set, holding La Sierra to a .100 hitting percentage and sealing the match with timely blocks and clutch kills.
ERAU will head to Mesa on Friday to play Park Gilbert at 6pm at Arizona Athletic Grounds.
