Embry-Riddle delivered a dominant second-half performance to secure a 3-0 shutout victory over OUAZ on Thursday evening on Varsity Field.
After a scoreless first half, the Eagles came alive in the second, netting three goals in a span of just under nine minutes to put the game out of reach. Forward Nitai Bental led the charge with a sensational brace, scoring in the 54th and 55th minutes to give Embry-Riddle a commanding lead.
Bental's first goal came in the 54th minute off a well-placed assist from Ravi Holladay, breaking the deadlock and igniting the Eagles' offense. Just over a minute later, Bental struck again, this time finishing a setup from Lucas Thompson to double the lead.
The Eagles weren't done yet. In the 62nd minute, Cesar Battistini added the third and final goal of the match, capitalizing on a precise assist from Sean Maguire to seal the win.
Embry-Riddle outshot the Spirit 20-5, including 11 shots on goal to OUAZ's two. The Eagles also held a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks and matched the Spirit with 14 fouls apiece in a physical contest that saw four yellow cards issued — two to each side.
ERAU will host Arizona Christian for a 7:30pm kickoff on Saturday evening.
