Embry-Riddle delivered a commanding second-half performance to secure a 3-0 road victory over Soka University of America on Thursday night.
After a scoreless first half marked by physical play and limited chances, Embry-Riddle broke the deadlock in the 58th minute when Lucas Thompson calmly converted a penalty kick to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Thompson's goal was his first of the season and set the tone for a dominant stretch by the visitors.
Just eight minutes later, Thompson turned provider, assisting Julian Albanil on a well-placed finish in the 66th minute to double the lead. The Eagles continued to press, and in the 69th minute, Christopher Cruz added a third goal, finishing off a pass from Francesco Busini to seal the win.
Embry-Riddle's defense held firm throughout the match, with goalkeeper Alex Bissett recording two saves and earning the clean sheet. The Eagles limited Soka to just two shots on goal despite the Lions registering eight total attempts and four corner kicks.
ERAU will play at The Master's University on Saturday at 11AM in Santa Clarita.
