Embry-Riddle showed determination and flashes of strong play in a competitive home matchup against OUAZ on Friday afternoon, ultimately falling in three sets 16-25, 23-25, 21-25.
The Eagles (7-11, 1-6 GSAC) pushed the visiting Spirit (12-2, 6-1 GSAC) in the final two sets, which featured a combined 24 tie scores and 8 lead changes, underscoring the intensity of the match.
Brooke Eglinton and Emma Barber led the offensive effort for Embry-Riddle, with 10 kills and 9 kills each. Hannah Clear had six kills, hitting .400 on 15 attempts.
Makalani Carey added 8 kills on 19 attempts for the Eagles.
Setter Alice Tuci had 21 assists and Barber and Ronni Lyons led the defensive effort with 12 digs each.
Embry-Riddle will play again next Saturday at Benedictine Mesa with first serve scheduled for 2pm.
