ERAU Falls in Hard-Fought Battle at La Sierra

In a tightly contested match on Thursday evening, Embry-Riddle came up just short against La Sierra University, falling 3–2 in a spirited road effort.

The Eagles showed resilience throughout the match, responding to La Sierra's early pressure and keeping the game competitive until the final whistle. Despite trailing twice, Embry-Riddle clawed back each time, but a second-half penalty kick proved to be the difference.

La Sierra struck first in the 14th minute when Elias Quintanar Macias found the back of the net off an assist from Alexander Munoz. Embry-Riddle answered in the 37th as Luke Thomas capitalized on a scoring opportunity to level the match at 1–1 heading into halftime.

The second half saw La Sierra regain the lead in the 65th minute with Quintanar Macias netting his second goal of the day, assisted by Vinicius Goncalves. Just ten minutes later, Alvaro Romero converted a penalty kick to extend the Golden Eagles' lead to 3–1.

Refusing to back down, Embry-Riddle narrowed the deficit in the 84th minute when Simon Downhour headed in a goal off a pinpoint assist from Dario Ajdini. The Eagles pressed forward in the final minutes, with Lucas Thompson nearly equalizing in the 87th minute, but his shot was denied by La Sierra goalkeeper Saul Lucero.

Embry-Riddle will play next in the GSAC semifnals on Friday, November 7th.
