Embry-Riddle won on Thursday evening, earning a 3-1 victory over Hope International at Varsity Field. The Eagles, now 9-0-2 overall and 6-0-0 in conference play, used a dominant second-half performance to secure the win and remain atop the standings.
After a scoreless first half, Embry-Riddle broke through in the 59th minute when Jamie Black netted her first goal of the match off a well-placed assist from Tessa Updegraff. The goal ignited the Eagles' offense, which struck again just nine minutes later. Jamie Brandon found the back of the net in the 69th minute, assisted by Kaitlyn Roskopf, and then doubled her tally just two minutes later with another goal, this time set up by Ella Carnahan, giving the Eagles a 3-0 lead.
Hope International managed to pull one back in the 77th minute with a goal from Brandi Valdez, but the Eagles' defense held firm for the remainder of the match. Goalkeeper Aubrianne Dupre made two saves and anchored a back line that allowed just five total shots, only three of which were on target.
Embry-Riddle outshot Hope International 12-5 and held a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks. Brandon led the team with four shots, two goals, and a relentless attacking presence throughout the match.
ERAU will play again on Saturday at 5pm against Life Pacific.
