Eagles Take Down Knights

Embry-Riddle improved to 4-0 on the season with a convincing 89-77 victory over Warner Pacific (OR) Friday afternoon at CC Perry Gymnasium/Bart Valentine Court. The Eagles used a dominant second-half shooting performance and balanced scoring to remain unbeaten.

Embry-Riddle jumped out to an early lead and never trailed, building a 15-point advantage midway through the second half. The Eagles shot 60.7% from the field in the second half and finished the game at 47.6% overall, while holding the Knights to 45.2%.

Noah Gifft led the Eagles with 28 points, adding five rebounds and three assists. He was joined by Jacey Canalin, who poured in 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting, including a perfect 3-for-4 from the line in the closing minutes. Isaiah Wong chipped in 11 points, while Peter Dress anchored the paint with nine rebounds and eight points.

The Eagles dominated the glass with a 41-32 rebounding edge, including 15 offensive boards that led to 13 second-chance points. Embry-Riddle also capitalized on Warner Pacific turnovers, scoring 11 points off giveaways.

Warner Pacific was paced by Jurrien Sparks, who scored 29 points and grabbed four rebounds, while Chad Napoleon added 22 points. Despite their efforts, the Knights couldn't overcome Embry-Riddle's depth, as the Eagles' bench contributed 21 points.

Embry-Riddle held a 41-33 lead at halftime and extended it with a 48-point second half. The Eagles' largest lead came at the 5:55 mark of the second half when they went up by 15.

ERAU will play one more game in Oregon on Saturday at Lewis & Clark College before returning to Prescott.
