Eagles Drop Close Game to Redhawks

Embry-Riddle battled against Benedictine Mesa on Thursday night, but a last-second shot fell short as the Eagles dropped a heartbreaker, 71-70 in Mesa, Arizona.

The matchup was tight from the opening tip, with both teams deadlocked at 28-28 at halftime. Embry-Riddle surged ahead midway through the second half, building its largest lead of 12 points with 5:41 remaining, thanks to a balanced offensive attack and strong interior play. However, the Redhawks clawed back behind clutch free throws and timely stops, erasing the deficit in the final minutes.

With the game tied at 70-70 in the closing seconds, Benedictine's Isaiah Howard sank two free throws to give the hosts a one-point edge. Embry-Riddle had one last chance, but a jumper at the buzzer missed, sealing the Eagles' narrow defeat.
