Eagles and Royals Split

Embry-Riddle won the first game over Hope International at Bastanchury Park in Fullerton on Saturday 4-2, but the Royals came back to win the second game 6-4 over the Eagles.

Game 1

Game Highlights:

  • First Inning: Embry-Riddle started strong with Lily Anderson and Kayli Clark hitting singles. Despite a fielder's choice that led to an out, Clark stole third and scored on an error by the catcher, giving the Eagles an early lead.

  • Second Inning: Kealey Myhre walked but was caught stealing. Katie Jamieson singled, followed by a fielder's choice and a walk, but the Eagles couldn't capitalize further.

  • Third Inning: Anderson walked, and Clark was hit by a pitch. Jade Bayless reached on a fielder's choice, loading the bases. Myhre walked, bringing in a run. Clark scored on an error, extending the lead to 3-1.

  • Fifth Inning: Clark doubled and Autumn Sulusi singled, setting up Bayless for an RBI groundout, scoring Clark and making it 4-1.

  • Pitching Performance: Vanessa Brink pitched a complete game, allowing only 5 hits and 2 runs while striking out 6 batters. Her control and composure were key to Embry-Riddle's victory

Game 2

Game Highlights:

  • First Inning: Embry-Riddle came out swinging, with Anderson, Clark, and Sulusi all hitting singles to load the bases. Bayless and Myhre followed with RBI singles, giving the Eagles an early 2-0 lead.

  • Second Inning: Hope International responded with three runs, capitalizing on errors and timely hits to take a 3-2 lead.

  • Third Inning: The Eagles regained momentum with Bayless and Jamieson contributing singles. A passed ball advanced runners, and Jamieson's RBI single tied the game. Anderson walked with the bases loaded, bringing in another run to make it 4-3.

  • Sixth Inning: Hope International surged ahead with three runs, aided by errors and aggressive base running, ultimately sealing their victory.

  • Pitching Performance: Claire Streeter pitched a complete game, allowing 10 hits and 6 runs while striking out 3 batters.
