Embry-Riddle had a six run second inning and a seven run 5th inning powered by five home runs on the way to a 16-4 win over Nelson University at Eagle Baseball Field on Tuesday afternoon.
After a scoreless first inning both
Blake Moore and
Kaden Menard reached base after being hit by a pitch. With two outs, an error on the shortstop for the Warriors kept the inning going and brought home both Moore and Menard.
Miles Murphy then followed with a triple to centerfield to make the score 3-0.
Owen Cain then was walked and
Roberto Garza-Nunez cleared the bases with his first of two homeruns for the day. After two, ERAU led 6-0.
The Warriors got one run back in the top of the 3rd but a solo shot by
Fernando Perez-Ortega put the Eagles back up by six with the score 7-1.
Nelson managed to get two more runs across in the top of the 4th inning, but once again ERAU answered right back. This time it was Garza-Nunez with a solo shot to left field.
In the bottom of the 5th inning, the Eagles scored 7 runs, the big hit a grand slam by
Blake Moore.
Embry-Riddle only needed seven innings as ERAU won by run rule 16-4.
Jonah Montes earned the win on the mound for the Eagles.
ERAU will head to Benedictine Mesa on Thursday to continue GSAC play against the Redhawks.
