ERAU Splits on Day One of NAIA National Championships

Embry-Riddle won 2-1 over Central Baptist College on a two run home run by Jade Bayless in the first game of the day before falling to Our Lady of the Lake 1-3 in the second game at the opening round of the NAIA National Championships hosted in San Antonio, Texas on Monday.

Game 1
ERAU had plenty of base runners, the Eagles were just unable to score until the bottom of the 5th inning.  Autumn Sulusi hit a single and Bayless followed with the homerun for the Eagles only two runs of the game.  Vanessa Brink picked up her 20th win in the circle pitching all 7 innings and striking out nine.  Central Baptist scored one run in the top of the 7th, an unearned run.  Bayless, Leah Salas, and Katie Jamieson each had two hits a piece to lead the Eagle offense.

Game 2
The #5 Saints scored a run in the bottom of the first inning and added one in each of the 5th and 6th innings to beat ERAU 3-1.  Kayli Clark brought home Bayless on a single to centerfield in the top of the 7th inning for the Eagles lone run.

Embry-Riddle will play again on Tuesday at 12pm against the winner of the Central Baptist vs. Middle Georgia State game.
