Embry-Riddle started GSAC play with a gritty 2–1 win over OUAZ on Thursday evening at Spirit Field. The Eagles (4-0-2, 1-0-0) showcased their attacking depth and defensive resilience to secure their first conference victory of the season.
ERAU wasted no time asserting control, peppering the OUAZ defense with 14 shots in the opening half. The breakthrough came in the 31st minute when sophomore defender Ella Carnahan netted her first goal of the season, capitalizing on sustained pressure in the final third. Less than a minute later, senior standout Molly Newlin doubled the lead with a composed finish from the penalty spot—her third goal of the season.
OUAZ responded quickly with a goal from Camill Wilson in the 35th minute, assisted by Maria Juarez, but the Eagles held firm to take a 2–1 lead into halftime.
Goalkeeper Aubrianne Dupre anchored the backline with four crucial saves, including two in the second half to preserve the lead. The Eagles' defense absorbed late pressure from OUAZ, who managed just seven shots all game compared to Embry-Riddle's 30.
Embry-Riddle will play again on Saturday morning at 9am at Arizona Christian.
