Embry-Riddle moved to 1-0-1 in Great Southwest Athletic Conference play on Saturday after beating Arizona Christian in Glendale 1-0.
The Eagles (2-2-2, 1-0-1 GSAC) secured all three points thanks to a 28th-minute goal from Nitai Bental, who finished a well-placed pass from Francesco Busini. The lone goal proved enough as Embry-Riddle's defense held firm against a late surge from the Firestorm.
Goalkeeper Alex Bissett was outstanding between the posts, recording eight saves and stopping a penalty kick in the 72nd minute to preserve the shutout. Arizona Christian (3-2-2, 0-1-1 GSAC) outshot the Eagles 15-12, but Bissett's heroics and disciplined defending kept the hosts off the scoreboard.
Bental led the Eagles with five shots, three on target, while Sean Maguire and Rojvan Karaer each added two shots.
Despite being outshot in the second half, the Eagles maintained composure and closed out the match with strong defensive organization.
Embry-Riddle will host Benedictine Mesa Thursday evening with kickoff scheduled for 7:30pm at Varsity Field.
