Embry-Riddle battled to a hard-fought 1-1 draw against conference opponent Benedictine Mesa (AZ) on Thursday evening at home, thanks to a clutch second-half goal from sophomore Sean Maguire.
The Eagles found themselves trailing early after Benedictine's Ryder Skolka converted a penalty kick in the 20th minute, giving the Redhawks a 1-0 lead. Despite the setback, Embry-Riddle responded with resilience, maintaining pressure and creating chances throughout both halves.
Maguire's equalizer came in the 66th minute, capitalizing on a breakdown in Benedictine's defense to slot home his second goal of the season. The goal energized the Eagles, who continued to press for a winner but were ultimately held off by Benedictine's defense and goalkeeper Aiden Klein.
Goalkeeper Alex Bissett anchored the defense with three saves, including a crucial stop in the 78th minute to preserve the draw.
ERAU will play Park Gilbert on Saturday at 7:30pm at Legacy Sports Complex.
