Embry-Riddle put up a strong fight on Saturday afternoon but came up short against Arizona Christian, falling in four sets (19-25, 20-25, 25-17, 22-25) in a Great Southwest Athletic Conference (GSAC) matchup at home in the Eagle Gym.
The Eagles (7-8, 1-3 GSAC) found their stride in the third set, executing a sharp offensive game to take the frame 25-17. Senior Hannah Clear led the charge with 12 kills on a .400 hitting percentage, while Brooke Eglinton added a team-high 16 kills and 2 digs, hitting .250.
Setter Alice Tuci was instrumental in facilitating the offense, recording 38 assists and 10 digs. Haeden Baker contributed 4 kills and 2 blocks, hitting an efficient .364, and Anela Chew added 7 kills and 3 blocks.
Defensively, Ronni Lyons and Alexis Creager anchored the back row with 13 and 15 digs respectively. The Eagles totaled 63 digs and 6 service aces, with Tuci leading the team with 3 aces.
Embry-Riddle's best offensive set came in the third, where they hit .314 and outpaced Arizona Christian with 14 kills and just 3 errors. The match featured 26 tie scores and 12 lead changes.
ERAU will head to Southern California next to play The Master's University on Saturday at 2pm in Santa Clarita.
