Embry-Riddle came up short against La Sierra University, falling 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-23) in a California road matchup on Sunday afternoon.
Senior Emma Barber led the offensive charge for Embry-Riddle, tallying 8 kills and 10 digs, while Brooke Eglinton and Hannah Clear each contributed 8 kills of their own. Clear was particularly efficient, hitting at a .571 clip. Setter Alice Tuci orchestrated the offense with 25 assists and added 5 digs and a service ace.
Defensively, Alexis Creager anchored the back row with a team-high 16 digs, and Ronni Lyons chipped in with 14 digs and 3 service aces. The Eagles recorded 61 total digs and 5 service aces as a team.
Embry-Riddle struggled to find consistency in attack, hitting .148 overall and committing 18 errors on 122 attempts. The second set proved most challenging, with the team hitting just .086.
La Sierra was led by Ariana Pedroza, who posted 14 kills and hit .270, and Julissa Rodriguez, who added 11 kills at a .391 clip. The Golden Eagles hit .242 as a team and out-blocked Embry-Riddle 18 to 4 in total points.
Embry-Riddle will return to Prescott to host OUAZ on Friday at 4pm in the Eagle Gym.
