Game Recap: Softball |

Eagles Start Season 2-0

Embry-Riddle kicked off the 2026 campaign with an 8-5 win over Central Baptist using four homeruns and a complete game effort from Claire Streeter.  The Eagles dominated the second game winning 12-1 over Nelson at Champions Sportsplex in Pineville, Louisiana.

Game 1
After two quiet innings to open the contest, the Eagles struck first in the top of the third when Leah Salas delivered the team's first home run of the season—an opposite-field shot to left that gave ERAU a 1–0 advantage.

Embry-Riddle broke the game open an inning later with a three-run frame. Anise Romo doubled home a run, Ryan Da Costa followed with an RBI double of his own, and Salas added a run-scoring single to extend the lead to 4–1.

In the fifth, Jade Bayless launched a solo homer to center, pushing the margin to 5–2. The Eagles continued their power display in the sixth when Danica Quinn crushed a two-run home run to left, making it 7–2.

Romo capped the scoring in the seventh with the Eagles' fourth long ball of the afternoon.

Streeter was the story in the circle, throwing 7.0 innings and striking out 12 while allowing 10 hits and just four earned runs. She worked out of multiple jams—including stranding runners in scoring position in the second and third—and benefited from solid defense behind her.

Her dominance was especially evident in the middle innings, where she struck out five batters across the fourth, fifth, and sixth frames combined.

Game 2
Embry-Riddle wasted no time setting the tone in the bottom of the first. After  Da Costa led off with a single and immediately stole second, Salas drove him home with an RBI double to right-center. The Eagles added two more runs thanks to a Nelson defensive miscue and a sacrifice fly from Kealey Myhre, giving ERAU a quick 3–0 advantage.

The second inning proved even bigger. Annalie Castanon singled and stole second, and after a brief baserunning hiccup, Romo ignited the rally with a triple to left-center. Da Costa followed with an RBI triple of her own, and on the very next at-bat, Salas launched a two-run homer to extend the Eagles' lead to 6–0.

In the third inning, Embry-Riddle continued to overwhelm Nelson's pitching staff. Myhre singled to start the frame and scored on an RBI single from Joy Sanchez, before Romo smashed a two-run double. Costa, not finished yet, added another RBI double, and Salas singled home another unearned run. When the dust settled, the Eagles had put up five runs, pushing the lead to 11–0.

On the mound, Presley Daniel showed poise and efficiency, throwing 5.0 innings while giving up just four hits and one run, striking out two and walking four. She faced only 22 batters and needed just 80 pitches to finish the complete game.

Embry-Riddle will continue their Louisiana trip on Saturday with two more games at 12pm and 2pm.
