Embry-Riddle put up a spirited late-game rally on Sunday afternoon, but a ninth-inning push never materialized as the Eagles fell 9-7 to Keiser at Silvester Jr. Field.
ERAUÂ broke the scoreless tie in the third inning, stringing together three straight singles from Owen Montgomery, Caden Truman, and Kaden Menard.
Keiser responded immediately in the bottom half, tying the game on a two-run homer from shortstop Jett Olsen. The Seahawks then seized control with a five-run fourth inning highlighted by a solo home run from Michael Maiquez and a series of RBI opportunities generated by pressure on the bases. Defensive miscues aided the rally, with two unearned runs crossing against ERAU starter Kyle Riley.
Right-hander Carson Stoller entered in the fourth and delivered a strong stabilizing performance.
- 4.0 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 3 K, helping keep the Eagles within striking distance while ERAU's offense built momentum for a late-game comeback
Trailing 7–3 entering the seventh, the Eagles surged back with their biggest inning of the day.
ERAU loaded the bases with no outs and went on to produce four runs via:
- An RBI single from Menard,
- An RBI infield single from Nelson,
- A sacrifice fly from James Warren, and
- A run-scoring single from Javier Izaguirre, who finished 3-for-4 with 2 RBI.Â
The rally tied the game at 7–7 and flipped momentum squarely in the Eagles' favor heading into the late innings.
Keiser answered once again, this time in the bottom of the eighth. A leadoff single and a bunt fielder's choice set the table before Toby Martinez drilled a triple into right field to plate the go-ahead run. Olsen followed with a sacrifice fly, giving the Seahawks a 9–7 lead that held through the final out.Â
ERAU couldn't muster a baserunner in the ninth against Keiser closer Aiden Leitner, who earned the win behind two scoreless frames.
Embry-Riddle will begin GSAC play next week at Arizona Christian on February 26th.Â
