Eagles Drop Pitchers’ Duel at The Master’s

Embry-Riddle (AZ) battled through nine innings of tight, low-scoring baseball on Thursday afternoon, but an early deficit proved too much to erase in a 4–1 road loss to The Master's at Lou Herwaldt Stadium. The Eagles generated opportunities throughout the day and flashed strong pitching in the late innings, but TMU's early four-run cushion held.

Embry-Riddle's lone run came in the eighth, when Jake Lokos reached after being hit by a pitch and later scored on an error—one of several times the Eagles applied pressure on the basepaths.

Right-hander Noah Tschopp turned in a gritty six-inning outing, striking out six while navigating traffic on the bases. He allowed seven hits and four runs—only three earned—while throwing 99 pitches. TMU capitalized on a pair of early miscues, including a first-inning wild pitch that brought home the game's opening run.

The Eagles collected four hits on the afternoon, highlighted by:

Embry-Riddle's best early chance came in the first inning when Nelson walked and stole second before a walk to Izaguirre set up a two-on, two-out situation that ultimately came up empty.

The Embry-Riddle bullpen delivered 3.0 scoreless innings across four pitchers—Braden Wilson, Sam Pritchard, Spencer Rego, and Lukas Barrett—limiting TMU to just one hit the rest of the way. Jacob Samsing recorded the final out in the eighth.

Trailing 4–1 in the ninth, the Eagles brought the tying run to the plate after Connor Rosinski walked and Owen Montgomery was hit by a pitch. But a sharp lineout double play halted the rally, and a groundout ended the game.

Embry-Riddle will play two at The Master's on Friday with the first pitch at 12pm.
