Game Recap: Baseball |

Eagles Take Two From Redhawks

Embry-Riddle won the first game of the double header 10-6 over Benedictine Mesa on Friday afternoon and took game two 15-5 at Eagle Baseball Field.

Game 1

Right-hander Noah Tschopp delivered exactly what the Eagles needed: six innings of steady, composed work. He allowed just two runs on six hits while striking out four, earning the win to move to 2–3 on the year.

Tschopp kept the Redhawks off the board through the first five innings, giving the ERAU offense time to break the game open.

After four quiet frames, the Eagles exploded in the bottom of the fifth for six runs on six hits, turning a scoreless game into a commanding 6–0 lead.

The rally began with Javier Izaguirre Jr.'s leadoff double to right field, as recorded in the document: "Javier Izaguirre Jr. doubled to right field". Pinch-runner Kaden Menard immediately stole third, setting the table for Fernando Perez-Ortega, who ripped an RBI double to left to put ERAU on the board.

Moments later, Jake Lokos tripled to right to score Perez-Ortega, and Connor Rosinski added an RBI groundout to make it 3–0. The Eagles kept the pressure on: Owen Montgomery was hit by a pitch and stole second, and Caden Truman reached on an error that allowed another run to score. Miles Murphy followed with an RBI single, and Izaguirre Jr. capped the inning with an RBI single of his own to make it 6–0.

ERAU kept rolling in the sixth, plating three more runs. Truman singled home a run and advanced on an outfield error, and Konner Nelson delivered a two-run single to right to stretch the lead to 9–2.

Nelson then stole second and advanced to third on a balk, continuing a day where the Eagles were aggressive on the bases from start to finish.

The Redhawks made a late push, scoring twice in the sixth and adding three more in the eighth—including a two-run homer from Javier Rochin—but the Eagles' bullpen held the line. Spencer Rego closed the door with a clean ninth inning, striking out one and allowing no baserunners.

Game 2

After falling behind 1–0 in the first, ERAU immediately answered with a four-run second inning fueled by speed, pressure, and timely hitting.

The rally began when Javier Izaguirre Jr. walked, and after a fielder's choice, Kaden Menard stole second and advanced to third on an error, setting the table. The Eagles tied the game when Aleksander Krupa singled to third base, RBI.

Moments later, Caden Truman singled, and Konner Nelson doubled to right field, 3 RBI to blow the inning open.

The Eagles kept rolling in the third, piling on five runs. After a leadoff double from James Warren, Fernando Perez-Ortega drove him in with a single up the middle.

Then came the biggest swing of the day.

With two on and one out, Aleksander Krupa crushed a no-doubt, grandslam to left field.

Already leading 9–4, ERAU delivered the knockout punch with a six-run fifth inning.

The inning opened with a Jake Lokos single, followed by an error and a hit-by-pitch to load the bases. Truman delivered again with a two-RBI single to right, and Nelson followed with an RBI single of his own.

ERAU kept the pressure on as Miles Murphy singled home another run, and Lokos capped the inning with a two-RBI single, pushing the lead to 15–4.

Starter Carson Stoller battled through four innings to earn the win, allowing three runs (two earned) with four strikeouts.  He threw 4.0 innings with 6 hits and 3 runs allowed .

The bullpen combination of Gundert, Samsing, Wilson, and Pritchard closed out the final three innings, allowing just two hits.

Embry-Riddle will play Benedictine Mesa again on Saturday for a doubleheader with the first game beginning at 11am.
